hanami ATL
Sunday, March 16 — 2pm
Blackburn Park, 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Rd
Backup plan:
Sunday, March 23 — 2pm
Piedmont Park, near the northeast part of the lake
What is hanami?
Hanami is a beloved Japanese tradition of having a picnic under the blooming cherry blossom trees. I will serve tea and snacks (all vegan, of course).
This page makes the event seem like a much bigger deal than it actually is. It's just a casual picnic in the park with my friends. I just wanted an easy way to give everyone all the info.
Why is there a backup plan?
If it rains on March 16 or if the cherry trees are not blooming yet, we will use the backup plan. A few days before March 16, I will text everyone who has told me they're coming to let them know if we're going with the main plan or the backup plan.
What should you bring?
You don't have to bring any food, but you can bring a vegan snack or tea to share if you feel like it. You should bring a blanket or something to sit on, and maybe something waterproof (tarp, plastic bag, etc.) to put under your blanket to prevent water from coming through, in case the ground is wet.
Who is invited?
I've invited about 15 people. You're welcome to bring friends along; please just let me know how many you might bring.
Hardly anyone looks at my portfolio website, so I don't expect anyone I haven't met to see this page, but it's possible. If that's you, you're welcome to come to hanami as long as you are cool with a group of people in their 20s/30s/40s who are diverse, pro-science, anti-oppression, etc. Please email me to let me know you want to join us: contact(at)catkerrwrites.com
Can you bring a dog?
Yes, as long as your dog is chill, gets along with other dogs in case they're not the only one, and will not steal people's food. 🙂 (If you were at Wild Tea 2023, you know why this statement is necessary.)
